I intend this blog to be a look at the world of libraries and technology. Perhaps a little bit of humor with videos or stories from the news. Feel free to comment on anything I’ve posted. I’m always interested in hearing from people who agree and disagree with me.

Hello Eric, my name is Carl Coffin. I’m an alumni of the university and currently work for Charleston County Public Library at the Otranto Road Regional Library. I also work in the Reference Dept. I just wanted to comment on your blog. I think starting a library blog like this is a great idea. It is a good way for librarians to build relationships with patrons, students, etc. Your blog has given me some insight into possible starting a blog for our library.

One problem with being a Web-only reader is the lack of structure. In
my usual routine, where I start the day with the papers, I look at the
front page, the editorial page, and some arts or other feature—then I
feel I’m at least glancingly aware of what’s new. But reading only the
Web—and not looking at aggregators—makes the news seem so formless.
Also, capping our reading at one hour a day is just not how we consume
news anymore.
